Singer, songwriter JoJo Mac hails from the island Jamaica where she has been singing since the tender age of three years old. She migrated to the United States of America where she eventually decided to seriously pursue a singing career. She started her very own band and began performing in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia tri-state area at night clubs, concerts ,hotel lounges and other musical events. Her singing talents caught the attention of a gentleman whose only connection with the music was that he owned a sound system, whom after seeing her perform decided that he would create a record label just so he could record her. The name of the label was “Throb Music”. Throb music released an album “Hard and Soft” that was produced by Duckie Simpson of the group Black Uhuru, who instigated the making of the album after he saw her in a performance at the DC Civic Center/Symbolic House Hall in Washington DC.

She continued to perform on the hotel and night club scenes and still opening for major acts like Beenie Man, Gregory Isaacs, Sugar Minott, Shinehead and many more. She was the host of a cable television show in the Washington, DC area titled “Reggae on the Move”. She had a column called “Issues of the Heart” in a Baltimore newspaper giving advice to lovers. That she said came easy because as a writer she is especially ballad-oriented, “in touch with love’. She played a small role in an independent movie titled “Dinner with Richard” that she admitted to never seeing on the big or small screens. JoJo Mac has a very distinguished voice that sets her apart from her peers, and the ability to enunciate that leaves no doubt that she is understood and Sir Clement “Coxone” Dodd, of Studio One fame did not let that fact go unnoticed. Shortly before his passing Jamaican veteran singer/songwriter Ernest Wilson heard her singing while hanging out at Big Ship studios and the following day introduced her to Coxone, her audition was singing acapella on the spot and four hours later she had recorded her first song for him and within months he had enough songs for an album and then some.

Two singles “Good Girl Go Bad” an original, and “Victim” a cover originally recorded by seventies singer Candi Staton. She is an avid and very talented song writer and wrote all her own songs thus far. JoJo has the tenacity to display versatility on any genre of rhythmic grooves and has a knack for being one with the beat. As a performer JoJo Mac is electricity personified and has a commanding way about her, with her “in your face” delivery of her songs or those of any other artist like Whitney Houston, Rhianna, Alicia Keys, Macy Gray, Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley or any of the many artist whose songs she decides to tackle. She never ceased to mesmerize her audience, small or large, garnering their full attention. She is currently in the studio working on an album for a 2010 release
